Urban Meyer Hospitalized With Chest Pains

According to SEC Sports Hub, Urban Meyer was hospitalized due to some severe chest pains.
Meyer was taken to the Shands Hospital in Gainesville but has been released according to a source in the Florida athletic department.
How quick did they get back? I mean the game ended around 7:30/8:00. They must have packed up quick in Atlanta. Even flying back, they couldn’t have got back much earlier than 11:00 PM. It’s also being said that he checked himself into the hospital from other sites.
SEC Sports Hub also went on to mention it is known that Meyer has a cyst on his brain that causes extreme pain when stressed out. It’s not hard to assume that the game last night against Alabama is what caused the extreme stress from Meyer. We’ll keep you updated with more info as we get it.
Urban Meyer was released shortly after checking in.
UPDATE:
According to a Florida spokesperson, Meyer was treated for dehydration, but is doing “OK” now.

Don’t hate on Tim Tebow crying. He cries because he cares about the team. He cries because he knows we didn’t do as well as we could. He cries because he gives a damn. He’s not a sissy or (excuse my language) pussy, he’s a man that doesn’t care about showing his emotions. Get over it haters!

The Florida Gators remake “Thriller” for halloween:
UF student Kristin Giannas (Telecom-News in the house!) pulled off a nearly impossible feat; getting a bunch of UF athletes to participate in something and videotaping it. Try picking out all the athletes Miss Giannas is able pull together as they perform ‘Thriller’ with Albert and Alberta.

The No. 3/3 University of Washington volleyball team turned in a complete effort, holding No. 4/4 Florida to an .067 hitting efficiency, to post a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-10, 25-19) win against the Gators on Saturday in the Tampa Twice Tournament, hosted by the University of South Florida at its Sun Dome.
The Gators (6-1) were led for the fourth consecutive match by sophomore outside hitter Colleen Ward (Naperville, Ill.), who turned in a team-high seven kills to complement two blocks for a squad-best 8.0 points. Washington (8-0) posted its eighth consecutive sweep of the season with the victory.
The Huskies hit .359 in the match and out-blocked the Gators 7.0-4.0. Washington also had three players record double-figure dig performances.
“What makes Washington so good, besides how talented they are, is that they make very few mistakes,” Florida head coach Mary Wisesaid. “Their numbers all season and their numbers today reflect that. There is a huge gap right now between how Washington played today and where the Gators are today. Our goal is to get back to work, starting tomorrow, and to narrow that gap so that the next time we play a team as talented as Washington, we will be in the match.”
Sophomore right-side/setter Kelly Murphy (Wilmington, Ill.) added six kills and tied junior setter Brynja Rodgers (Iowa City, Iowa) with a team-high 12 assists. Sophomore middle blocker Cassandra Anderson (Bakersfield, Calif.) led Florida in blocks with three.
Senior libero Elyse Cusack (Melrose, Fla.), who has posted double-figure digs in each of the team’s matches this season and ranks No. 4 on the Southeastern Conference’s all-time career digs list, recorded a squad-best 13 digs in the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Kristy Jaeckel (Littleton, Colo.) added nine digs and four kills for the Gators.
The two teams battled evenly to begin the opening set before back-to-back kills by Washington’s Becky Perry and Jill Collymore gave the Huskies an early 8-6 advantage. Trailing 11-8, Florida got a kill from Ward and benefitted from a ball-handling error by Washington to cut within one at 11-10.
Still ahead by one at 12-11, Washington scored three points in a row to go up 15-11 and force Wise to burn a timeout. That was the beginning of a 12-2 run by Washington, which reached set point at 24-13. Florida staved off four attempts at match point before the Huskies’ Airial Salvo recorded a kill to give UW a 25-17 first-set win.
Washington raced out to a 4-1 lead in the second set before a kill by Jaeckel stopped the scoring streak. Following that kill, the Huskies ran off seven consecutive points leading into a Florida timeout to go up 11-2. The Gators twice cut within seven, the last at 14-6 on an illegal rotation call against Washington. That was the beginning of a 7-0 run that extended the Huskies’ lead to 19-6. Washington continued on to a 25-10 second-set victory.
The Gators used two kills from Murphy and a pair of blocks to jump out to an early 4-1 advantage in the third set. With Florida head by three, 5-2 after a Murphy kill, back-to-back Gator attack errors brought Washington to within one, 5-4. The Huskies kept rallying to knot the score at 6-6. An ace by Collymore and a kill by the Huskies put them in front 8-6. Back-to-back put-downs by Jaeckel again knotted the score, this time at 8-8.
With Washington leading 10-9 after a Johnson kill, the Huskies ran off two in a row to go back up by three, 12-9. UW kept rolling to a 14-10 advantage heading into a Florida timeout. With the Huskies ahead 18-11, the Gators scored two in a row after a Murphy kill and an attack error by Collymore to cut within five, 18-13. The two teams traded points to put Washington up 22-15 before seniorKristina Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) notched a kill and Rodgers followed with an ace. Continuing to trade points, the Huskies took a 25-19 win in the third set.
Florida returns to action on Friday when it opens Southeastern Conference play at Ole Miss. Opening serve is set for 8 p.m. ET and the match will be carried live on ROCK 104 FM with Cory Stephens.
UF Beats Colorado in Soccer

UF soccer coach Becky Burleigh said after Friday’s victory over Duke that her team is built to play better in the second half. Sunday, at home against No. 20 Colorado, Mother Nature helped the No. 14 Gators get an early start.
After a back-and-forth match through 39 minutes, the sun ducked behind darkened clouds and the rain fell. With the field forming puddles and turning into its own version of the swamp, Florida glided to a 3-1 victory.
Two minutes after the first rain drops fell, Holly King took a throw-in from defender Jazmyne Avant near the right sideline. The freshman King turned on a Buffaloes defender and fired a long 25-yard shot that bent over keeper Kara Linder and fell into the far-left side of the net, giving King her first collegiate goal.
“I knew the keeper was off of her line, so I had to get it over her head,” King said. “I just turned and shot it and got it right where I wanted it.”
Moments after the goal the rain disappeared, leaving behind a soaked field that kept the ball wet and the air increasingly humid. That didn’t stop the Gators from compiling their typical strong play in the second half, but it seemed to drain the energy from Colorado.
Three minutes into the second period, freshman Erika Tymrak took a pass from roommate Brooke Thigpen and launched an 18-yard straight shot into the hands of Linder, who bobbled the sure-catch into the air, over her head and onto the ground. Linder dropped down as the ball approached the goal line and attempted to clear it out, but inadvertently pushed the ball in as it straddled the line. The goal was credited to Tymrak on a goalie miscue, but nearly was ruled an own-goal.
“The ball was definitely wet (in the second half),” said Gator keeper Katie Fraine. “… The balls that we use skip when they’re wet instead of rolling. I had to remind myself of that.”
Senior Lindsay Thompson scored the third goal for Florida (5-2) in the 54th minute on a long breakaway run that finished with a 15-yard shot to the left of Linder. The goal was Thompson’s second of the weekend.
Colorado (4-3) negated the shutout in the 80th minute when Kate Russell put in a 32-yard free kick against a group of Gator reserves, including backup keeper Kendall Graham.
“For some of our players, it was their first game action ever and I never thought that would have happened against a team as good as Colorado,” Burleigh said. “That says a lot about our team that we could be in that position.”
No 6 Florida Soccer Loses in OT

The No. 6 Florida soccer team lost 2-1 in double overtime to Indiana on Friday at Armstrong Stadium.
The teams came into the match undefeated and the Hoosiers hadn’t given up a goal in the 2009 campaign.
The first goal of the match came off an IU free kick in the 58th minute. Chloe McKay took the 35-yard kick and sent the ball into the box where Devon Beach headed it in from 10 yards for her second goal of the season.
The match was tied in the 62nd minute off an IU (4-0) own goal. Florida’s Angela Napolitano centered the ball from deep in the Hoosier half. IU defender Kerri Krawczak tried to clear the ball, but it went back toward the IU goal. Hoosier goalkeeper Lindsay Campbell tried to catch the ball, but it slipped through her fingers and into the goal. The score ended Campbell’s scoreless streak, which started in the 2008 season, at 562:17 minutes.
In the 67th minute, a bouncing ball was loose in the box. Florida’s Lindsay Thompson and Campbell both were moving at full speed when they collided in the box. The collision left Campbell down on the field and she was replaced in goal by junior Lauren Hollandsworth.
The match was the first overtime contest of the season for either team. The only shot credited to either team in overtime was the game-winner by IU’s Leigh Anne Cummings. She was led by a pass from Beach and Cumming’s sharp right shot from 15 yards was the golden goal in the 115th minute. It was the first overtime loss for the Gators since losing 1-0 to Illinois in 2005 NCAA opening round action.
“This was a game where we never got on track. We were never in rhythm. Our game is about completing passes and possession and we were never able to do that consistently,” UF coach Becky Burleigh said. “We need to find a way to win when we are not connecting passes. It wasn’t just one person — we just weren’t in rhythm. Our game depends on rhythm and we struggled with that.”
This was the first match that Gator senior Ashlee Elliott hadn’t appeared in since early in 2007 — a stretch of 45 consecutive appearances for UF, including 43 starts. Elliott tore her left anterior cruciate ligament in the Aug. 30 Florida-USF match and will miss the remainder of the season.
“Having Ashlee helps from a leadership standpoint and from a depth standpoint because she is a presence that other teams had to deal with. But that (not having Elliott) isn’t why we lost the game,” Burleigh said. “We lost the game because we couldn’t connect passes. When you give the ball away, bad things happen.”
Florida (3-1) continues its Midwest road trip with a match vs. No. 9 UCLA (1-1-1) on Sunday in Champaign, Ill. Match time is set for noon.

ESPN Regional Television, the new over-the-air syndication home for Southeastern Conference programming, and the SEC announced on Tuesday a regionally-syndicated college sports package that will air in more than 73 television markets, along with the branding of the syndication package as the SEC Network – all part of the groundbreaking 15-year agreement between ESPN, Inc., and the SEC.
Full story at Gator Zone
So what does this mean?
Within the 9 state footprint of the SEC network, it would air on the over-the-air stations of the SEC event. In areas that don’t fall inside the SEC “footprint”, it would air on air on local, over the air TV stations or regionial sports networks.
“As ESPN moves forward in this landmark agreement with the SEC, ESPN Regional Television is thrilled to provide our viewers with a consistent window for Southeastern Conference football and basketball,” said Pete Derzis, senior vice president & general manager, ESPN Regional Television. “With ESPN’s multimedia platforms, we anticipate SEC sports will touch an unprecedented base of college fans nationwide.”
The deal is set to start in the 2009 – 10 season for 15 years.
“The SEC Network, through the efforts of ESPN, will be the largest college sports syndication television package in the country,” SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said. “The comprehensive market coverage in the nine-state SEC area combined with the out-of-market reach gives us significant additional exposure for our programs.”
