Former Gator Jesse Levine was just a qualifier for Wimbledon, but already he is responsible for the biggest upset of the Grand Slam tournament so far.
Levine got the biggest win of his career Tuesday, defeating two-time Grand Slam champion Marat Safin, who plans to retire at the end of the year. Levine, of Boca Raton, Fla., won 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Former Gator Jesse Levine qualified for Wimbledon

Former Gator Jesse Levine qualified for his second consecutive Wimbledon tournament on Thursday, defeating Germany’s Mattias Bachinger, 6-2, 7-5, 6-2. It will mark the fifth Grand Slam singles appearance of Levine’s pro career.
“I know he wasn’t 100 percent today but you never know what will happen so I kept taking it to him and never let off,” Levine told the official Wimbledon website.
In his first Wimbledon appearance last year, Levine advanced to the second round with a victory over Australia’s Samuel Groth.
