Week 4 College Picks – October 3

Ok people. It’s October. This is when the rubber hits the road. Of course some teams were standing in the road in September and got run over.

LSU @ UGA: This is the big CBS 3:30 game. LSU is #4. Who was #4 last week? Anyway, the Tigers are doing the Bulldog Double. UF does it later this month. This just in. Georgia is the tougher of the two ‘Dawgs. LSU barely escaped Stark Vegas last week. Had MSU’s quarterback had the good sense to stretch out the ball, they would not have. Memo to Mullen. Explain to the kid, IT’S 4TH DOWN! Don’t worry about fumbling. If you don’t score, it’s the same thing!  I like UGA 35-24.

Auburn @ Tennessee: Did Auburn hire a new coach last year? Funny, I don’t recall him accusing anyone of cheating. Did he tell the boosters he was going to throw TP in the trees after beating Bama? NO? Auburn 21  Tennessee 10

Alabama @ Kentucky:  Last year UK played Bama tough. I got a feeling they may again. Then they will figure out a way to lose. Maybe the Kats can take a page out of the Vol’s book and claim a moral victory.  Tide 21 Kats 14

South Carolina State @ South Carolina:  Not exactly Florida State-Florida is it? Well maybe the “State” teams are about equal. Cocks 38  State 10

Mississippi @ Vanderbilt: Vandy won this one last year. Ole Miss will be ready this time. Maybe they’ll be better now that the bright lights are gone.  Rebs 30 Dores 14

Arkansas @ Texas A&M:  Does the winner play Texas for the SWC championship? No? Oh right. That was in the 80s. Or was it the 60s? I think Mallet bounces back this week and has a big game. Hogs 45 Aggies 12 (in honor of the 12^th man) Woo Pig Sooie!

Georgia Tech @ Mississippi State:  I don’t see the Dogs stopping Tech’s running game. I’m not so sure the UGA Dawgs will be able to next month, so I’m pretty sure these won’t.  Jackets 31 Dogs 17

Florida State @ Boston College:  BC is awful. FSU is awful every other week. This is their good week. Christian Ponder comes up big. Noles 34 Eagles 14

Oklahoma @ Miami: This could be the game of the day. Much like Ole Miss, I think “Da U” will benefit from the lower expectations this week. Plus Stoops is saying no Bradford. So far. This game will depend on the OU pass rush. Pressure Harris and they win. Let him have time to throw, they lose. I’m going with the Sooners D.  Sooners 27  ‘Canes 21.

South Florida @ Syracuse:  Make Paulus put it on the floor and beat you off the dribble.  Oh my bad. This is football? Ok. Make Paulus put it on the floor and beat him.  Bulls 17 Orange 10.

Washington @ Notre Dame:  Suddenly this is not the cupcake Lou Holtz thought it would be. UDub is pretty tough. Just ask LSU. Oh and USC. Those games were in Seattle. This one is not. In the “Ty Willingham Bowl” it’s Irish 28 Huskies 20.

Memphis @ UCF:  I will be in attendance at this one. I’m trying to get O’Leary fired. But it will not go well for me this week as my alma mater will do just enough to save George for another week or two.  Knights 20 Tigers 13
