Patrick Schuster Bailing on the Gators

Some of you will remember a pitcher that was supposed to be the “it” factor for Gator Baseball. This lefty pitcher became a popular item to follow after throwing 4 consecutive no hitters for New Port Richey-Mitchell (state record). His name is Patrick Schuster and now he’s being a douchester.
It looked all set for the Gators to have Schuster playing with the Gators this spring but Arizona caved in to his demands and gave $450,000 for Schuster. The $450,000 apparently wasn’t the only reason that Schuster decided to pack up and leave. Schuster was taking summer school here in Gainesville and was appalled at the way he was treated.
In an interview with the Arizona Republic he stated:
“I got there and, you know what, I don’t like being treated like I’m stupid. I went to a good university, a good teaching institution, and they treated me like a dumb jock. I didn’t appreciate it. I didn’t like it. As soon as I got the phone call that said they (the Diamondbacks) got me my money, I packed up and left as soon as they told me. I was ready to go on Thursday and ready to come here.”
Well to you Patrick Schuster I say “Good Day!” Your attitude is not something we need infecting the other players on campus. A bad attitude is much more contagious than a good one. If Arizona wouldn’t have sacked up the cash for Schuster, he would be speaking highly of Florida right now I bet.
It is a loss of talent but the harmful effects he could have had on the team could have been much more devastating than his talent could have accounted for.

Maybe you should research all the facts before you shoot your mouth off. Maybe this 3.8 GPA kid wanted a real degree not one “created” by an advisor. And maybe when he wanted tougher classes and was told no- because he was just a jock he got pissed. Maybe he realized that he could persue his real degree when he was done playing baseball and no one decides his future.
You “NO IT ALLS” don’t know crap. But you shoot it out you mouth all the time. This is one of the greatest kids out there from a great family, ask Sully, he still says so…So do some research before you shoot down a nice kid in the future.

WHy don’t you get an interview from the kid or his family.

Jack – It did make the print (I was in a meeting). I have no problem showing your comments. I am all about intelligent and PG rated comments being posted even if it is bashing myself.
I would love to do an interview with Patrick and have him set me straight but wasn’t able to do so.

Why not, Gainesville Sun talked to him? They did a reply from him.Sully has indicated he doesn’t have a problem with Schuster… So why trash him when you don’t have a clue? Not much of an effort on your part….Do a good story on a good kid. His positive attitude brought enthusism and pride to his school. He showed respect for every person that did interviews with him. Why don’t you contact the coach at Mitchell HS and ask him what he thinks about all this. The people that really know him. This bashing by faceless people is unfair.

I see Gainesville Sun got comments from him….Maybe you’d rather trash the kid than do the real story, real truth.
He is a respectful good kid that has done alot for his school and community. Most people were impressed by the way he handled himself during his no hitter streak. There are plenty of people that know this is crap. Ask Sully. He knows that Schuster said from the beginning that if he got what he wanted he’d sign. Now everyone is surprised and bashing him. Yeah, he shoulda kept his opinions to himself. He’ll learn….
