SEC media day has been under way and there has been ruckus about which coach didn’t pick Tebow First Team All SEC but let’s move on to more important things!
The Gators received 63 of 64 votes to win the SEC Championship game by the voters. The majority vote has Florida playing Alabama in Atlanta on December 5th for the championship game. However, the one vote that they did not receive to win the SEC went to Ole Miss. Florida was a unanimous vote to win the East outright though. The SEC east according to voters would look like this:
- Florida
- Georgia
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Vanderbilt
- Kentucky
Florida is the first team to be a unanimous selection to a division since the league started its divisional play in 1992.
In the SEC West it was much more spread out but Alabama took more than 50% of the votes getting 33. Ole Miss had 16 and LSU had 15 which put the SEC West standings like this:
- Alabama
- LSU (yes even though they had less first place)
- Ole Miss
- Arkansas
- Auburn
- Miss St
The SEC media team had no unanimous players for the All SEC team and Tim Tebow and Brandon Spikes both received 61 votes for All SEC.
