Joe Haden Taking Snaps at QB

Only a few practices completed and already the trickery and “strategery” has begun. No Tim Tebow will not be on the bench nor will this be Haden’s primary role on the Florida Gator football team for this upcoming year.
“It’s pretty realistic,” Haden said. “I’ve been running some plays . . . Coach Meyer and Coach (Steve) Addazio really like it.
…
I’m not going to steal [Tebow's job]. I’m going to borrow it for a second,” Haden said Monday. “I’m real excited about that. I always told coach [Urban] Meyer I wanted to get back on that side even if would get me two plays or something like that.”
Haden, a 5-foot-11 junior from Fort Washington, Md., played quarterback at Friendly High School and set a state record with 7,371 yards passing. He also tied a state record with 80 touchdown passes.
If it weren’t for Tebow there’s a good chance that we would have seen a lot more Haden behind center. It wasn’t something that was talked about a lot because of Tim Tebow already taking the starting spot but one day some goofing off lead to an epiphany:
“We were out there screwing around at the beginning of summer and he threw me a football and that thing came at me a tight spiral and hot,” Meyer said. “I said, ‘Do that again,’ and he did it again. Ever since that, he’s been talking to me. That’s a possibility.”
Haden wouldn’t be just a one sided attack at QB either. It would be a similar situation against Tebow that opponents would face and Haden isn’t shy to point that out.
“I used to really play quarterback,” Haden said. “It’s not like I’m a defensive back trying to play quarterback. [Opponents] might have to play the same defenses as they do against Tebow, because I can throw the ball, too.”
Last year with Harvin the Wildcat type offense brought great success and this year with Haden it looks like the coaches feel it will present the same opportunities and success it has in the past.

Just goes to show that Urban Meyer is very wise. His ingenuity is something to be admired, and he’s always figuring out different ways to attack and supplement his Plan to Win.
The key to using Haden in the Wildcat lies in its unpredictability – use this play when the opposing defense is least expecting it.
