Flu Panic Hits UF Locker Rooms

Join the forum discussion on this post - (1) PostsCoach Urban Meyer successfully won his game Saturday against Lane Kiffin and the Volunteers but it wasn’t as convincing as some fans, including myself, were expecting it to be. While it’s no excuse, there have been some issues regarding flu with some key plaers on the Florida Gator offense and the only logical explanation that I can think of to explain the lack of a passing game.
It’s being reported that over 150 cases of Swine flue were reported on UF campus and a friend of mine had caught it as well. With proper medication and anti-biotics there should be no worries. Nonetheless getting the flu sucks and we don’t need our team getting sick. We sucked it up on offense without a few players but imagine if it infected Tebow, Cooper, Black, Dunlap, etc. There might not be a win if those players fell ill before a game.
This will be Kentucky’s hope I’m sure. Their gameplan relies on spreading the flu through our players and coaching staff to enable them to have a shot. Urban Meyer has been gung ho about keeping this from spreading by separating the infected players into separate rooms to not raise the risk of spreading the flu to others. Only time will tell if this is successful.

Mat, you should read my little “blurb” ripping Paul Finebaum a new one over his latest nonsense that I posted earlier at Gator Envy, as well as another short essay I wrote about my post-game thoughts.
In spite of all the negative circumstances, Urban Meyer deserves props instead of some of the scorn he’s getting from both Gator fans and rivals with regards to this win – he found a way to chalk up a “W” in spite of having little depth at WR and three guys down with the flu who still played anyway.
Trust me, we’ll be ready for Kentucky. We may be down a little right now, but we’re not out – and since Meyer’s handled this team we’ve always bounced back from the “downers”.
