Carlos Dunlap Arrested for DUI
Florida Gators star defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested early this morning for a DUI. He was arrested at 3:25 AM off of SW 34th Street by Officer Robert Rogers.
According to police, Rogers was dispatched to the area to check out reports of a reckless driver in a Chrysler. Rogers said that when he found the car matching the description, it was stopped although the traffic light was green. Rogers said he watched the light cycle through several times but the car remained stopped.
“The front windows of the defendant’s (Dunlap’s) vehicle were cracked slightly and officers on the scene were unable to wake the defendant,” Rogers wrote in the arrest report. “Loud repetitive commands were given to the defendant who would only open his eyes momentarily and nod back off.”
Rogers said he reached in through the slightly opened window to unlock the car and noticed that it was still in gear. After shifting the car into park and turning off the ignition, Rogers and other said they noticed that Dunlap’s breath smelled of alcohol, his eyes were watery and bloodshot, that he had trouble maintaining his balance and did poorly on field sobriety tests.
How drunk do you have to be to pass out at the wheel? How stupid can you be!? You have a game this weekend that determines if you continue on for your chance at a National Championship, why would you do something this silly? The smartest thing he did was choose to not take the breath test.
While we have been rotating our defensive players, this definitely isn’t a player that has no impact on the field. He was named the 2009 National Championship Game MVP so his absence will be noticed.
Breaking News:
Urban Meyer’s Official Response to Dunlap’s Arrest: “Carlos wasn’t as think as you drunk he was”… apparently Meyer was with Dunlap at this gathering. (This is only a joke… obviously)

Among the worst pieces of advice that can be given to somebody who drinks and drives is “refuse the breathalyzer test”. You may think it was smart now, but when you learn how much higher his penalties go, you may come to the same conclusion as DrinkingAndDriving.Org – it’s cheaper to take and fight a breathalyzer test than to refuse one! Refusing a breathalyzer test is a ‘refusal to cooperate’ with the officer. When is that smart? How often will refusing to cooperate with your arresting officer get you off? Or lessen the offenses against you? Or make anything better at all? That was another seriously expensive and stupid thing to do.
How about refusing to get behind the wheel before drinking? Oh, but how is that possible???
HINT – There are designated driver services available in 7 Florida counties.
You were very right to call this guy stupid. He is about to find out ju$t how $tupid he wa$.

You are correct if you don’t have money and need your license don’t refuse. But a DUI is on your record for a lot longer than refusing to take a Breathalyzer. You’re only looking at it from a money stand point.
