Howard Ate His Way to a New Role

Jaye Howard showed up in Gainesville weighing 230 pounds with visions of locking down the FOX defensive end. Now four years later, he is over 300 pounds with the quickness to become a pass rusher from the inside. An improved offseason in the weight and film room has the redshirt junior ready to explode on the scene. (read more)

Scouting Miami (OH) Defense and Special Teams

Miami University in Ohio (not Miami of Ohio, I was admonished by an alumnus) had a very difficult season last year, allowing 34.2 points per game. While the total offense of their opponents (377 yards/game) is not all that bad, giving up almost six yards per play certainly qualifies. (read more)

S.O.S. Gets Much Needed Opening Win

It’s year six for Steve Spurrier at South Carolina and his Gamecocks team for the first time has the most returning starters and most experienced quarterback in the SEC Eastern Division. After five mediocre (35-28) seasons in Columbia, Spurrier was quite vocal this summer about the need for his Gamecocks to win and win big. (read more)

Meyer: 'We're Ready to Go'

The Gators are ready to play. Hitting each other on the practice field and competing against teammates for months in the weight room can only continue for so long. After Thursday’s final practice, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. (read more)

I honestly feel bad for John Brantley. I really do. (read more)

Austin Preparing for Battle

Nothing can really compare to the rigors of warfare, but when playing and coaching football in the SEC, you want to have guys you can trust and by your side. Earning that trust is huge and Florida defensive coordinator Teryl Austin trusts a great deal of the players he will coach on the field Saturday's in The Swamp. The defense is strong up the middle, but Austin likes his group as a whole. (read more)

Moore Re-Energized for Senior Season

Carl Moore arrived in Gainesville before the 2008 season expecting to make an impact. Despite the return of Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy at wide receiver, Moore was expected to add a possession wide receiver to the group. He stumbled out of the gates and caught one touchdown on the season before missing the 2009 season because of injury. (read more)

Scouting Miami (OH) Offense

First we all need to understand that it is Miami University in Ohio, not Miami of Ohio as most like to say. I was admonished by an alumnus to properly identify the team that is coming to Gainesville Saturday so there you have it. (read more)

The Game Brown Has Waited For

Nobody will be more ready to run out of the tunnel for the Florida Gators on Saturday than sophomore cornerback Jeremy Brown. Injured for two seasons, Brown feels like he is 100 percent healthy and ready to contribute to the program he loves and in the game he loves. Brown talks about that here on camera. (read more)

Debose Eager for His Swamp Debut

When wide receiver Andre Debose comes out of the tunnel for Saturday’s game, it won’t be the first time he’s entered The Swamp from the locker room. So, what makes the first game in 2010 so different? This time he will run through that tunnel dressed out and ready to play. (read more)

Angelo Jean-Louis on the Rise

The state of Florida is loaded at the wide receiver position in the class of 2012. Latroy Pittman, Chris Black and Ricardo Louis are just a few that will battle it out for that top ranked wideout ranking. (read more)

Demps the Obvious Choice to Return Kicks

Jeff Demps sometimes runs past his teammates without them even noticing. They look around to see what passed them, but players admit it’s hard to recognize him at full speed. With the graduation of Brandon James, Demps was an obvious selection to take over kickoff returning duties. His straight-line speed allows Demps to simplify what he does after catching the ball. (read more)

Meyer Optimistic Heading into Season Opener

Urban Meyer’s frustration was evident last week. His team was banged up and had few experienced players at full health, causing the head coach’s outlook to be dim. Now, those injured players are back, and all of a sudden, Meyer couldn’t be more optimistic about the season that begins Saturday. (read more)
