Les Miles Not Happy with SEC Officials

We thought LSU week was over when Florida boarded the buses and left Tiger stadium with a 13-3 win. Les Miles, however, is still thinking about one play from last week – Tim Tebow’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Riley Cooper.
Miles sent the videotape of that play to the SEC this week for review, telling reporters, “Yeah, we sent that in. I’m savoring the opportunity to call in there.”
So Miles is angry that the officials missed the jersey tug? Apparently the LSU coaching staff missed it as well. Cornerback Chris Hawkins was benched for the rest of the game after giving up the touchdown to Cooper.
“What we saw from the sideline, we did not see,” Miles told the AP. “He just got yanked on, and there are no corners that I know that sustain that and don’t give up position on the ball.”
The call was clearly blown, as CBS showed the replay over and over – Cooper grabbed the jersey. Gators fans thought it was smart, while Tiger fans are thinking the game could have turned out differently.
Take away the touchdown and Florida may end up kicking another field goal. Say they don’t score. Nothing LSU was doing indicated they would march down the field and ever score again.
Bottom line…the defense of Florida was the real difference maker on Saturday night. Brandon Spikes and the rest of the defense shut down LSU for all four quarters.
Miles still thinks LSU could win the game, if the two should meet up down the road in the SEC Championship.
“The thing that we have to see is that adjustments have to be made certainly, and our team plays a little bit better,” he said. “If we do what we’re capable, it’d be just wonderful to see that team again.”
I have news for you Mr. Miles. If the Gators do what they’re capable of doing, and have a truly healthy Tim Tebow, seeing that Gator team in Atlanta would be more of a nightmare than anything you could imagine as “wonderful.”
Which Coach Did Not Vote Tim Tebow First Team All SEC? Steve Spurrier

After Tebow wasn’t named unanimous to All SEC team, I was not the only one that has begun the hunt to find out who did not vote for Tebow as first team All SEC.
The first coach that came to mind in everyone’s head was Lane Kiffin. Due to his words about Meyer and in general to UF, all fingers pointed to Kiffing right away until recently when Kiffin publicly made it known who he voted for: Tim Tebow. So I give you back a couple points of respect Lane Kiffin.
On Wednesday, Kentucky coach Rich Brooks; Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen; Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino; and Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson confirmed they voted for the Gators quarterback as well.
Thursday was Day 2 of the SEC media days, and the hunt was even more narrowed. Georgia’s Mark Richt said he voted for Tebow; Alabama’s Nick Saban said he did, as well.
“It would be very difficult for somebody not to vote for Tim, but I guess they did,” Richt said. “Maybe it was a mistake.”
This is the second year in a row the pick was not unanimous. Although last year there could have been doubt due to the previous season the Gators and with Stafford still being in the mix, that could be reasoned to pick Stafford.
We have it narrowed down to three coaches:
- Steve Spurrier
- Les Miles
- Gene Chizik
Which one do you think it was? My bets are on Les Miles.
UPDATE
Results are in… Steve Spurrier is the culptrit according to sources.
However, now it seems it’s a mistake.
Not sure if it’s a mistake because people made such a big deal or if it was an honest mistake.
Nonetheless, let’s move on.
Florida Gators Start #1

It’s unanimous! Florida Gators will start the 2009 football season as the #1 team to beat. They are also the highest favored team for a repeat championship which would make it their 3rd in 4 years.
This year also comes with Tim Tebow arguably the front runner for another Heisman trophy opportunity as well. The one year the Gators didn’t win the championship while Tebow has been here was the year that he picked up the Heisman which made him the first Sophomore to win this award.
Les Miles says he’s not giving in to they hype but definitely gives the recognition to the team as they do well deserver:
“I don’t think anyone in this league is giving in,” said LSU coach Les Miles, whose Tigers host the Gators on Oct. 10 in a Southeastern Conference battle.
“I guarantee we look forward to playing them. But it’s recognition. They all return except for Percy (Harvin). And anytime you have a quarterback that has the experience (Tebow) has, you’re in every game. I don’t think there’s any question they’re talented and capable, but I can’t imagine that won’t be an exciting day in Baton Rouge.”
LSU may very well prove to be the toughest opponent for Florida this year other than the SEC Championship Game that would be in the way of the title that has Alabama as a front runner for that spot and would be another tough road block on the road trip to the national championship game.
Note: The only team in the history of college football that has went wire-to-wire #1 was the 1999 Florida State Seminoles
